LIVING LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

LIVING LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

INDIGENOUS REPRESENTATION

This project originated from an event called "Chalk-and-Talk," which focused on discussing my school's Living Land Acknowledgement, which recognizes the campus's location on ancestral land. Due to the success of the design created for that event, I was approached to work on a larger project. This led to the creating of 12 vinyl display panels in our Memorial Student Center, each representing one of Wisconsin’s 12 Indigenous tribes.

DESIGNING OUTSIDE MY CULTURE

While the design does not replicate Indigenous art, it respectfully nods to it, focusing on the tribal logos carefully integrated into each panel. UW-Stout's Native American Student Organization reviewed and approved the final designs, ensuring cultural respect and accuracy throughout the project.
